Refund Policy
Last Updated: November 28, 2025
Our Commitment
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. This policy explains when refunds are available, how to request one, and what to expect.
TL;DR: 14-day EU refund period (if you haven't accessed premium content). No refunds after viewing 1+ principles.
1. Refund Eligibility
✅ ELIGIBLE for Full Refund ($99)
| Scenario | Timeframe | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| No content accessed (EU) | 14 days | Haven't logged into premium account or viewed any principles |
| No content accessed (Non-EU) | 7 days | Case-by-case basis - contact us |
| Technical issues | 30 days | Payment processed but no access granted (our error) |
| Duplicate purchase | 30 days | Accidentally charged twice for same order |
| Payment error | 30 days | Wrong amount charged (refund difference) |
Critical rule: Refunds ONLY available if you have NOT accessed premium content.
❌ NOT ELIGIBLE for Refund
| Scenario | Reason |
|---|---|
| Content already accessed | EU law allows waiving cooling-off for digital content |
| "Changed my mind" after access | You agreed to waive withdrawal right at checkout |
| "Too expensive" after access | Price disclosed before purchase |
| "Not what I expected" after access | Free preview available (6 principles) before purchase |
| Account violations | Terms of Service breach (scraping, sharing, commercial use) |
| Chargeback filed | Bypassed refund process (see Section 5) |
2. EU Digital Content Waiver
Why can't I get a refund after accessing content?
Legal basis: EU Directive 2011/83/EU Article 16(m)
EU consumer law allows businesses to waive the 14-day cooling-off period for digital content IF:
- User gives prior express consent (you check a box at checkout)
- User acknowledges losing withdrawal right
- Content delivery begins immediately upon purchase
How we implement this
At Polar.sh checkout, you'll see:
What this means
- BEFORE accessing content: Full 14-day EU refund right applies
- AFTER accessing content: Refund right waived (you explicitly agreed)
How we track: Server logs record which principles you've viewed (timestamp, session ID). This is evidence for refund decisions.
3. How to Request a Refund
Step 1: Submit Request
Email: refunds@uxuiprinciples.com
Subject line: Refund Request - Order #[YOUR_POLAR_ORDER_ID]
Include in email:
- Full name (as appears on payment)
- Email used for purchase
- Polar.sh order ID (from receipt email)
- Reason for refund request
- Purchase date
Initial response: 2-3 business days (acknowledgment email)
Step 2: Review & Verification (2-5 Business Days)
We check:
- Does order exist in Polar.sh?
- Did user access premium content? (server logs)
- Within refund window? (14 days EU / 7 days non-EU)
- Any account violations? (scraping, sharing, chargebacks)
Decision criteria:
- APPROVE if: No content accessed, within window, no violations, technical issue
- DENY if: Content accessed (1+ principles viewed), outside window, violations detected
Step 3: Processing (3-5 Business Days)
If approved:
- We initiate refund in Polar.sh dashboard
- Polar.sh processes via Stripe Connect
- Stripe refunds original payment method
- You receive email confirmation
Account changes:
- Premium access revoked immediately
- Account downgraded to Free tier
- Access to free principles (6 out of 112) restored
Step 4: Bank Processing (5-10 Business Days)
Refund appears in your account based on payment method:
| Payment Method | Timeline |
|---|---|
| Credit card | 5-10 business days (statement credit) |
| Debit card | 5-10 business days (account credit) |
| PayPal | 3-5 business days (PayPal balance) |
| Bank transfer | 7-10 business days (account credit) |
Total timeline: 10-17 business days (request → money in bank)
4. Partial Refunds
We do NOT offer partial refunds.
Why? Lifetime access is all-or-nothing:
- You either have access to all 112 principles ($99)
- Or you have access to 6 free principles ($0)
No refunds for:
- "I only used 10 principles" - You paid for access, not per-principle usage
- "I only used it for 1 month" - It's lifetime access, not monthly subscription
5. Chargebacks vs. Refunds
What is a Chargeback?
A chargeback is when you dispute a charge directly with your bank/credit card company instead of requesting a refund from us.
Common reasons people file chargebacks:
- Fraud (card stolen, unauthorized purchase)
- Service not provided (paid but no access)
- Dissatisfaction (unhappy with product)
❌ Consequences of Filing a Chargeback
If you file a chargeback instead of contacting us:
- Account permanently terminated
- Immediate loss of all access (free + premium)
- Cannot create new account (email/payment method banned)
- Payment method blacklisted
- Cannot repurchase with same card/PayPal
- Flagged in Polar.sh / Stripe system
- Dispute evidence submitted to bank
- Server logs showing content access
- Checkout consent checkbox screenshot
- Email confirmations (Terms + Refund Policy links)
- Bank reviews evidence
- If content accessed: Chargeback likely denied (you lose dispute + account stays banned)
- If you win chargeback: You keep money BUT account stays permanently banned
- Potential legal action for repeat offenders or commercial abuse cases
✅ When to File a Chargeback (Legitimate Cases Only)
File a chargeback if:
- You did NOT purchase (fraudulent charge, card stolen)
- You paid but received ZERO access (technical failure + we're unresponsive)
- We're unresponsive to refund request (30+ days no reply)
Do NOT file a chargeback if:
- You accessed content and want refund (contact us first)
- You "changed your mind" (follow refund process above)
- You're unhappy with content (contact us - we'll work it out)
Best practice: ALWAYS email refunds@uxuiprinciples.com BEFORE filing a chargeback.
