Cookie Policy

Last Updated: November 28, 2025

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files (typically under 4KB) that websites store on your device when you visit. They help websites remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how you use the site. This policy explains exactly which cookies UXUIPrinciples.com uses, why we use them, and how you can control them.

Cookies We Use

We use a minimal number of cookies—only what's necessary for the site to function and to understand how we can improve. Our cookies fall into two categories:

Essential Cookies (Required)

These cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function. Without them, features like logging in and remembering your theme preference wouldn't work.

Cookie NamePurposeDurationProvider
sb-access-tokenAuthenticates your session after login1 hourSupabase
sb-refresh-tokenRenews your session automatically7 daysSupabase
themeSaves your light/dark mode preference1 yearUXUIPrinciples.com

Why These Are Essential

  • Authentication cookies: Without these, you'd have to log in on every page.
  • Theme cookie: Prevents flash of wrong theme on page load.

Can You Block These?

Technically yes, but:

  • You won't be able to log in or access premium content
  • Your theme preference won't be saved
  • Basic site functionality will break

Legal Basis: Legitimate interest (essential for service delivery)

Analytics Cookies (Optional)

These help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. They're optional and don't affect your experience if blocked.

Cookie NamePurposeDurationProvider
_gaDistinguishes users for aggregate statistics2 yearsGoogle Analytics 4
_ga_*Maintains session state across pages2 yearsGoogle Analytics 4
__vercel_live_tokenVercel performance monitoring (production)SessionVercel Analytics

What We Track (and Don't Track)

  • What we track: Pages visited, time on site, referral source, device type, country (not city)
  • What we DON'T track: Personal identity, precise location, browsing history, IP addresses (anonymized in GA4)
  • We use data only for: Understanding which principles are most useful, improving navigation, fixing technical issues

Can You Block These?

Yes! Blocking analytics cookies has ZERO impact on your experience:

  • All features work normally
  • All content remains accessible
  • Your account functions perfectly

Legal Basis: Consent (you can opt out anytime via browser settings or Google's opt-out tool)
